After much discussion (and much confusion as to whether our collective had something to do with baking) we decided to re name ourselves in a Ronseal fashion and do exactly what we say on the tin.
We're the Dublin Zine Collective and our goal is provide cost price DIY zine printing, workshops on how to make zines and generally just have a fun zine filled time!
Today is also the launch of the Forgotten Zine Archive exhibition in the Centre for Creative Practices to celebrate the 10th year of the Zine Archive. It's on from today (the 7th of August) until the 17th, and it's going to be a pretty straight forward standing ovation to zines and all things zine related.
You can see the facebook event here, find out more about the forgotten zine archive here and find the Centre for Creative Practices here.

April Zine Workshop
An Eddie Pie Hands update:
We've changed our schedule so that instead of meeting every week, we're having a public meeting/workshop once a month. The organiser lads meet again to have a boring organiser meeting and catalogue the zine archive. It sounds boring, but our expert procrastination skills actually make them hilarious. And roughly three times longer than they need to be.
We started the April's workshop by having a light vegan dinner and immediately breaking the photocopier. We've printed A3 a bunch of times, but for some reason on this occasion, it jammed up the copier to an unusable level. We cleared the jam twice by opening every easily openable part of the machine, but the third jam wasn't even visible. Intimidated by the idea of anything involved a screwdriver and expensive equipment, we closed up the machine and reasoned that it needed a servicing anyway, so we'll get someone in to service it and remove whatever is causing the problem.
Undeterred (as most zinesters are in the face of most things, for example, the internet), we carried on with the workshop, chatting, cataloging and assembling zines and posters.
Here's what we came up with:
Notes scribbled at lightning speed, so forgive the terrible spelling.
- Why are you here?
- You don't even go here
- Boobs and like boobs
- Drinking and sobriety
- Favourite films/horror films
- Sigourney Weaver themed zine
- Who's the grossest person you'd still have sex with? (we played a round of this during the workshop and as usual the results were vile)
- A zine about hell? Ireland is hell.
- Grace Jones/ Joan Crawford
- Reality TV
- Nuclear Vaginas (I have literally no idea where this suggestion came from)
- Something to do with fashion/Personal style
- A zine about zines
- How I live in a zine world, where everyone is a mini zine.
- Brainwashing
- A brain being washed/Brains in a washing machine
- Brain bingo
- All the brains have little arms and are reading zines about brains
- Brain Storm
- Science Zine
- Agony Aunt Zine
- Horoscopes
- Fashion
- Fake Interviews e.g How I Became an Invertebrate
- Extreme life experience
- Cringe columns
- Doctor's Surgery Bad Experiences
- Jargon
So it was an extremely sophisticated meeting as you can see. What we settled on out of all that was a fake 'Women's Magazine', with fake horoscopes, agony aunt columns, cringe columns, extreme life experiences etc (I bags fake horoscopes. Libra: That insect bite that has been bothering you for the last week is actually infected. But don't worry, the insect that bit you had superpowers and now you're infected with a milder version of it's powers. Feel free to test what ones you have by throwing yourself off tall buildings and delving your hand into flames.)
Our next meet up will be on the 13th on May, if you'd like to bags a particular 'Women's Magazine' section leave it in the comments on this or comment on the facebook event page for next month. Otherwise it will be business as usual, bring along whatever you're working on, and if you'd like to help with the boring organising part of Eddie Pie Hands feel free to come to our meeting on the 22nd of April, at 7 in Seomra.

SKINT! The aftermath...
We held a fundraiser on the 4th of October to help get some cash together for our launch, so we can have exciting things like paper and burritos.
We screened $100 and a T-Shirt, made vegan sushi and held a raffle for zines and custom bikes.
It was a massive success, and thanks to everyone who came on the night. It went really well and we're even more excited about the launch on Sunday the 20th now!

SKINT - An Eddie Pie Hands Fundraiser
Tonight's the night my lovelies. To help us raise some dollaz we're having a ridiculously great fundraiser.
We're showing '€100 and a T-shirt', serving up vegan sushi and raffling off a custom bike and zine goodie packs. Personally it's my dream evening, I can only hope that other people share my dark obsessions with sushi and documentaries.
We also had these amazing posters designed for us by Patrick Murphy of Iamdestroyer comics, make sure to check out his work by clicking the link. We have such talented people involved with Eddie Pie Hands, it's really deadly.
See you guys tonight x
